Assistant Vice-President, Investment Funds
For Tyler Wiley, investing isn’t just about numbers. His focus is on relationships. He’s the key point-of-contact for the fund managers on every subject, including shifts in mandates, personnel changes and fees.
As chair of the committee and the investment fund optimization committee, he uses his unique fund manager insight to help shape the future of our fund shelf. With more than 10 years of experience at Canada Life, Tyler has an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of our organization.
Tyler was instrumental in developing the qualitative assessment, a key element of the investment manager review process. He identified and standardized the most appropriate questions to ask at every fund manager interview.
This is just a small example of Tyler’s passion and dedication to continuous improvement. He prides himself on taking complex processes and putting a more coherent structure around them.“Never rest on your laurels,” he says. “There’s always a way to do things better.”
These days, you’ll find Tyler researching global trends in the financial industry. He says gaining competitive intelligence from abroad is often like looking into the future of the Canadian wealth industry.
“I’m really excited about where we’re going with Canada Life as our single brand,” he says. “We’ll be working hard to develop a wealth platform that will meet the needs of all of our advisors and their clients.”
