What are Canada Life Pathways funds?
Brent MacLellan, CFA. Vice-President, Portfolio Construction & Analysis, Canada Life
(SPEECH)
The Canada Life Pathways funds provide investors a full suite of solutions that can help investors invest with confidence in achieving their financial goals. Since launching Pathways funds in 2018, we've seen great success, as these solutions have resonated exceptionally well with our advisors and investors because of these key reasons.
First, their distinctiveness in the marketplace. The Pathways funds provide access to managers and mandates not typically available elsewhere in the industry.

They also provide investors access to institutional-style investment managers, where some of the best managers are looking after their money.
And finally, performance is another key reason.

of these funds have delivered better performance than their peers, as they rank higher than the respective category medians. These funds are the building blocks to help clients reach goals that matter most to them.

What is a concentrated fund?
(SPEECH)
In a universe of hundreds or even thousands of companies, concentrated funds focus on investing in a small number of holdings, typically 30 to 40 stocks. These are the portfolio managers' highest conviction stocks. These companies may have a strong competitive advantage or unique capabilities that the manager feels can deliver better risk-adjusted returns.
(DESCRIPTION)
Why would you want to invest in a concentrated fund?
(SPEECH)
Concentrated funds, as mentioned, represent the manager's best ideas. That way, investors can trust that every name in their fund is the best of the best according to the manager. Given the nature of concentrated funds, they don't look anything like their benchmark or index, nor do they tend to look much like their peers.
Our pathway suite of funds offer a concentrated solution across all equity regions, Canada, United States, international, and emerging markets. That way, our investors can gain access to these unique strategies, aiming to deliver stronger returns and greater overall diversification to their portfolios.
