Pillcheck preferred retail pricing now available to all Canada Life health insurance customers
January 7, 2021, Toronto, ON – GeneYouIn Inc., a leader in personalized medicine, today announced it is growing its relationship with Canada Life, a leading health insurer. The new deal will give preferred retail pricing to all of the insurer’s health insurance customers, and expand access to Pillcheck, GeneYouIn’s personalized DNA analysis and online medication review.
"Pillcheck has positively affected the lives of so many, by helping identify the right medication for their genetic makeup, and get on the path to wellness, sooner,” said Veronika Litinski, Chief Executive Officer of GeneYouIn. “Building on our relationship with Canada Life enables us to reach even more Canadians so they, too, can avoid the frustration and cost of ineffective treatments.”
Pillcheck includes a personalized results report, a pharmacist's review, and an action plan to share with the doctor and free updates when new medication information is available. New medications are added regularly, according to expanding clinical guidelines. Clients can reference their updated report for life and contact their reviewing pharmacist for clarifications when necessary.
“We’re pleased to grow our relationship with GeneYouIn,” said Ryan Weiss, Vice-President, Group Customer Product and Experience, Canada Life. “Finding the right medication as quickly as possible is key to optimal health. If the first prescription doesn’t work, people can face a long and expensive road in finding one that does. We were the first insurer in Canada to offer Pillcheck coverage back in 2017 to eligible disability customers with a range of health conditions, at no extra cost to the member or sponsor. Now, we want to broaden access to this personalized medicine approach by sharing our preferred pricing with all of our health insurance customers.”
Canada Life customers with access to the GroupNet site for plan members can click through to Pillcheck for an automatic discount. Those with health spending accounts may be able to make a claim for the balance. Once an eligible order is placed, customers have ongoing access to their results at any time, through their personal account on the secure Pillcheck portal, regardless of employment status. Any personal information and results related to the test are maintained by Pillcheck and are not shared with Canada Life or the plan member’s employer.
Help members get on the right medications with genetic testing
Pillcheck’s platform supports both healthcare practitioners and individuals. It combines DNA analysis with an online medication review by pharmacists to help ensure individuals get on the right medication and feel better, sooner. Pillcheck is based on the science of pharmacogenetics which evaluates genetic variations that can impact how individuals respond to many common prescription medications.
