Eight charities to receive $15,000
Winnipeg, MB, November 30, 2021. . . Today, in honour of Giving Tuesday, Canada Life announced the recipients of their 2021 Seasonal Gift campaign. Each of these registered charities will receive a $15,000 one-time donation to help build stronger communities.
“At Canada Life, we believe in coming together to support causes that drive positive change in our communities all year long,” said Debbie Down, Director, Community Relations, Canada Life. “In addition, we’re pleased to once again give back to local charities through this special Seasonal Gift.”
The best part, according to Down, is that each recipient was hand-selected by Canada Life employees.
“We created this give-back program to help recognize our employee’s continued generosity and community efforts. That’s why in October, we asked them to nominate charities in their region they were passionate about, and that they felt were in need of additional financial support,” said Down, explaining that employees were tasked with choosing the final Seasonal Gift recipients. “As an additional incentive for our employees to get involved, we awarded a second Seasonal Gift in the region with the most engagement in the program.”
The final recipients for the 2021 Seasonal Gift are:
Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter in Alberta which focuses on ending family violence and abuse in the lives of women, children, youth and men.
Adsum Association for Women and Children in the Atlantic region which provides support and shelter to marginalized families and individuals who experience poverty and homelessness.
Pony Pals Therapeutic Riding Association in British Columbia which provides therapeutic pony riding to children and adults who are faced with physical and mental health challenges.
ChezRachel in Manitoba which provides a second-stage shelter to women and children fleeing domestic violence.
Food4Kids Ontario in Ontario which focuses on providing healthy food to children from at-risk, low income or disadvantaged homes with limited or no food.
SOS Violence Conjugale in Quebec which contributes to the safety of victims of domestic violence by offering support services.
SOFIA House Inc. in Saskatchewan which provides comprehensive services to children and families who have experienced domestic violence.
The bonus Seasonal Gift will go to Ronald McDonald House in Newfoundland and Labrador which provides safe and low-cost accommodations to families who have children receiving medical attention in St. John’s.
Each of the eight charities will use the Seasonal Gift to help improve the overall well-being of Canadians and communities in need, from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
